The TAB Process
The TAB process has been developed over many years utilizing five primary approaches to help business decision-makers improve their personal performance and that of their business.
- TAB Board Meetings – Board meetings focus primarily on addressing challenges or opportunities faced by business owners. Up to 10 members serve on each board. These members are selected for their diverse backgrounds, including industries, areas of expertise, and extensive business experience. Just think of the value of the feedback you receive from the 200 to 300 years of combine business experience that resides on each board. We liken the TAB Board® meeting process to a learning curve accelerator. Instead of starting at the top of the learning curve, you have an opportunity to benefit from those who have "been there and done that". You start 70% to 80% of the way down the curve. What an unbelievable time-saver for the over-scheduled business owner or president!
- Business Coaching – Each board facilitator and business coach is selected for their top-level business experience. See for yourself by reviewing the backgrounds of TAB-OKC’s coaches at our business coaches. Not only do our coaches have diverse and extensive business backgrounds, they are also thoroughly trained and certified in the TAB Facilitation/Coaching process. Each TAB-OKC coach is required to undergo comprehensive annual training. To insure continued high levels of performance by our facilitator/coaches, they are evaluated each month by the TAB board members. Besides facilitating the monthly board meeting, the TAB-Certified Facilitator/Coach will meet with each member for private coaching sessions between the board meetings and constantly monitor the progress you are making in accomplishing the goals you establish when you join the board. In addition, the facilitator/coach assists in helping the board prioritize and sequence your strategies into a logical planning process, as well as holding you accountable for the implementation of strategies recommended by the board and accepted by you to improve your business.
- Tools – The Alternative Board® has invested significant resources to develop tools that assist business owners in improving their business and aligning personal and business goals.
- TAB Business Vantage® – A diagnostic tool used to identify gaps between key success factors and actual performance in ten functional areas of your business. An additional nine special interest categories can also be evaluated using this powerful tool.
- By comparing results with senior managers in your business, you can determine if everyone has the same focus as the business owner.
- By comparing previous results with current evaluations, you can determine how much progress is being made.
- By comparing your assessment with others in the same SIC code, you can determine how your company compares to industry norms.
- Strategic Business Leadership® (SBL) – An easy-to-use planning tool with a very important distinction from most other strategic planning tools. This planning process starts with the personal vision and goals of the business owner, and then aligns the business goals and strategy.
- Business Education – Beyond the top-level business experience and functional expertise of the TAB facilitator, we frequently invite guest speakers to address topics of interest to each TAB Board. These include important, everyday concerns like hiring new employees and health insurance to technical issues like search engine optimization and business/personal taxes. Business reading is also part of our process. Please see business reading for some suggestions from our members and facilitators. TAB also publishes a monthly newsletter called Tips From The Top ® that gives bite-sized pieces of advice on a wide range of business issues.
- TAB Resource Network – TAB has established a message board where any facilitator in the TAB system can go to answer a question or address an issue on a timely basis. Issues are reviewed by nearly 300 facilitators in the TAB network throughout the world.
There is also the opportunity to network at the member level. You can meet with your peers from other local TAB Boards® in Oklahoma City, regionally with members in Tulsa or Dallas, and nationally at our member conference.
The Alternative Board® maintains an extensive business library that can be accessed by all TAB members.
TAB has also established a Member Yellow Pages where business products and services are listed for all TAB members.
